What Smart House means for us? What if it is no more than the adult toy, not appliances we need? Whatever the answer is, we are getting the Smart Solutions in nearest future to our households.
All future innovations are driven by the demand of simplifying our lives. And what is the more desired than the clean house without an effort? Now imagine that there will be no need to clean the household objects, but object will be able to self-clean itself.
There will be not much space in mega cities. The size of the apartments will shrink, and nanotechnologies will allow it to happen. Thanks to 3D printers and nanotechnologies, there will be no need for storage places. Need a cup? Print it! Having friends in the evening, just order from the machine the dining table and some chairs. Half an hour after, the guest place is ready to use, with new furniture, dinings set in themed colour. Moreover, everything printed will be disposable right after usage. No more headaches for cleaning and storing things hoping to use them in the future. Doesn't feel like a dream? Got an idea, bought design, printed, used it and disposed of it! Not only furniture but also clothes, shoes, and even electrical devices will be produced on demand and recycle after the usage. However, those technologies will need the constant powerful energy source. Hopefully, future will bring us sustainable and efficient renewable energy along with super universal printing material.
Claytronics might be one of the materials used in Smart Houses for 3D printing and not only. The innovative material researched for years by Intel and the Carnegie Mellon University is a digitalised matter where atoms can communicate with each other. The "mini-robots" can create any shape programmed by the human. The opportunities of the matter are countless. There is a possibility that Claytronics will substitute our daily objects. Catoms can transform from the ash to the 3D model in a matter of seconds. Visualising the possibilities of the material, Michaël Harboun has presented the project called Living Kitchen, where person interacts with the wall in the simple manner creating the working space just with the finger touch.
Many companies come up with the Smart House systems; LG offers to chat with the house using Nest HomeChat. The control over the house will be centralised in the owner's smartphone. An innovative Siri-like program will allow residents to communicate with the household objects using the messages. Smart household appliances such as kitchen electronic devices, lights, water, doors, will be interconnected and controlled using the phone. Moreover, LG has presented the concept of wardrobe, which will clean the clothes. No more need to head to the dry cleaning or do laundry by yourself in the future.
In addition to substituting the butlers responsibilities in the house, the Smart technologies will take care of gardening and growing food inside the household. Intelligent gardening boxes will take care of the indoor garden and become as familiar device as a refrigerator. In combination with Smart technologies, the energy and water will be supplied efficiently, reused and generated by the boxes itself.
All in all, the house will transform tít meaning, from the place we live in to the place that helps us to live more sufficiently, comfortable and fun. Instead of demanding the time, future homes will provide us with energy, nutrition and everyday objects. In future, the homes will work for us not otherwise.
Future stands for new ways of using the everyday objects, making them to shorter time usage, but longer time lasting through the recycling. The materials will be produced and handled at the households, 3D printed and reuses over and over again. We should concentrate on reusable matters and connected opportunities. Also, the future homes will change our attitudes to the free time as we will have more of it thanks to smart technologies.
